Hey guys! So I’m back and better. I know I haven’t been really writing like I should but school and work really do get in my way. So yeah here I am. I’m going to attempt to be diligent with this because I do love writing and explaining the Word (I hope I am anyway). But, let me get off of my soapbox. Y’all read and enjoy!
Tick tock. There goes the clock.
And as time goes by, I still have to wait. Its been months now and I am still waiting for God to open the door. But, it’s not time.
Waiting. Currently in my spiritual walk with God, I am in preparation season. And that means I have to wait.
This is hard for me because I hate waiting. I like to know when, where, and how something is going to happen.
But, I can’t do that in this season. God is making me wait- for something much greater than I’d ever imagine.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” –Philippians 4:6
So the verse above means a lot to me. As I read this verse, I can see my impatient self in it. I am anxious about waiting, but I am learning. I am learning to pray constantly during this season. Because in preparation season, I am the dough who is being molding into the shape that the Great Baker is molding me into. While being molded, I can be easily manipulated into something that my Baker does not intend for me to be.
As the dough, I can be enticed to look at everyone and see their perfect form, or how they seem to glow (and more often than not,I perceive them that way).
All I’m trying to say is that when in preparation season- I seem to look to the left and to the right of me, and not to the hills from which cometh my help. Even though I am talking about myself, I know we all are impatient when it comes to waiting for God to open the door that no man can shut. We all end up focusing more on our problems or other’s joy.
That’s why we can’t become weary in our waiting. I can’t be weary in my waiting. One way to counter act weariness is to pray and plead with God. As written in the verse above, by prayer and petition, make your requests known to God. This simply means to pray in the Spirit. Pray every second, every minute, every hour. Simply pray.
But, we can not pray grudgingly. Even though the door many not be open yet- give thanks for what God has given you. When you praise God in the midst of waiting, then He’ll rain down blessings.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:7-8
As you pray with thanksgiving, God will give you the peace that surpasseth all understanding. He will allow you the rest in your waiting. He will guard your mind from all the things that may distract you. Most importantly, he will allow you to think about His son Jesus.
When your mind is stayed on Jesus, your thoughts are as well. You begin to think about positive, lovely, happy, admirable things. Because those things are found in the Light we call Jesus.
So, as I close, if you are going through preparation season, let me know how you handle it. And pray all day, everyday. For if you and I do the things mentioned in the verses above, God will surely give us rest in our preparation.
