“You are a mist that appears fora little while and then vanishes.” James 4:14b
Life. We’re born, we live, and we eventually die. All of us.
In the past few weeks, two teenagers, both my age, died. They died within days or a week of each other.
That scared me. Honestly, it did. I was wondering why these 2 kids had to die. And it made me think about life.
The verse above, written by James (Jesus brother), hit the nail on the head for me. Because in God’s eyes, we are just mist that appears for a little while- and then we vanish.
But see, God doesn’t just look at us as we live and die. No, we in fact are created for his pleasure. We are created to make a difference in the kingdom of God- whether we choose to or not.
And then, I celebrated my birthday recently, thankful to see another day. Because somewhere around the world, I woke up- and someone did not.
I believe that we should be thankful for life- given to us by grace and by mercy.
The death of those teenagers really made me see how fortunate it is to be alive.
I see now that every breath I take, is optional by God.
I see now what older members of my church mean when they say, “For it is their time now, but ours soon.”
I see now that life is God’s.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.” Proverbs 3:1-2
And that lead me to really take everyday seriously. To definitely not waste any more days. Shoot, life is way to short to be wasting it on anything other than good things.
Grudges, hatefulness, rudeness, meanness, all things of the flesh gotta go! Because Solomon was right in the verses above— do not forget the things of God, which include love, gentleness, peace, and hope.
You have to live for today and not worry about tomorrow. For tomorrow will worry about itself. (Matthew 6:34)
To conclude, I’d just like everyone to know that life is to be taken seriously, especially for a child of God.
Now, I don’t know how long I’ll live- but I do know that I strive to be better everyday. I strive to reach the goal that God has set in place for me. I strive to live.
Alright y’all, I’m about to end this- seriously this time. But as I finish- know that life is a gift from God, so make the most of it.
With love, life, and happiness.
Malaysia.
