Hello, world!! So I know that I have been missing in action lately, but I’m back. I wrote this in February. It was not ready to be published then, but now it is. So please- enjoy this little word of encouragement today.
Let’s face it- life is not always sunshine and rainbows. There are times when things get dark, cloudy, and sad. And when that happens, God sometimes allows storms to enter our lives.
Within storms, there are many elements- lightning, thunder, wind, and rain.
Lightning and thunder are one. You can’t see the thunder and you can’t hear lightning but you know it is there. That is the spiritual battle that God is fighting for you. Sometimes it’s hard to see it and hear it in the midst of a storm, but just know that it is there and being fought especially for you. Ephesians 6 lets us know that we are not fighting against flesh and blood. We are fighting against those things we can’t see.
And while the battle is being fought- God will sometimes allow wind to enter into the mix. The wind moves things- sometimes precious things that we really care about. That is God’s way of moving things out of our way. We may think we need something, but God will sometimes take away the things we want in order to bless us with something new.
And when the going really gets tough- God will finally allow the rain to come down. Now, the rain is special. Like the wind, it moves things. But it also begins to wash away impurities in us, further cleansing us.
The rain is also symbolic of our tears. During the storms we may face in life- tears will be shed. And know this: God will keep our tears (Psalm 56:8). And like rain, tears fall and hit the ground. When the rain falls and hits the ground it sinks deep within. This is simply God watering the things in our lives that have yet to grow.
We don’t see God’s watering though, do we? That’s the beauty of it. God will sometimes only allow us to only see the rain for us to know through faith that He is preparing us for something much bigger than ourselves.
The more water you have, I believe the more plentiful your harvest will be.
We must go through the cold hard winter to see the sweet blooming of spring.
We sometimes must navigate the dark storm to see the light of day.
So, the next time you a storm in the forecast- smile. Or the next time you have a personal storm you are going through- smile.
I pray you all learn to enjoy the different elements of a storm. See the storm through faith- and watch God begin to show you the rainbow.
With a new love for storms,
Malaysia.
P.S: As I was preparing to write this, it had been raining all day. And my ritual is to read my Bible and pray beside my window. As I looked out of my window the rain stopped and I saw some red birds swoop down and land. My mind instantly went to the Gospel of Matthew, where God speaks of taking care of the sparrows and how he will certainly take care of us. The storm had passed and the birds were being fed. I’ll leave you with this- if He can take care of the birds after a storm, He will certainly take care of us.
