Happy February and Black History Month everyone!!! Now, enjoy this blog post.
*************************************************************************************
It’s extremely close to Valentine’s day- four days to be exact. And as you know, with Valentine’s day comes everything involving love.
From huge brown teddy bears to the various shades of red and pinks– the season of love is officially in full swing.
But, I choose to believe that the season of love is not just reserved for Valentine’s day. The season of love is a never-ending pursuit, crafted by our Heavenly Father.
You see, God is pursuing us. He pursues us so passionately that He gives us new mercies every day. He pursues us so passionately that he wakes us up every morning. He pursues us so passionately that he orders our steps.
And he pursues us so passionately that he knew us before the creations of this world. David knew something about God’s pursuit, so he wrote about it in the verses below.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” –Psalm 139: 13-16 ESV
In this Psalm, David acknowledges that God knew him way before he knew himself. David also acknowledges that God had written out all his days before they had even come to pass.
As it was with David, so shall it be with us. Our Heavenly Father knew us in the womb. He knew us before then too- when the foundations of the world were being laid. God knows the number of our days- every single one of them.
And the graceful part about it is that He did not have to think of us. But yet because he pursued us way back in the day, He did. And for that, we should be so grateful.
God specifically crafted us to be who He wanted us to be. Shoot, He even numbered each of the hairs on our head, so he even knows when hair 286 gets knotted with hair 239.
Isn’t that great? That the One Big God knows each and every one of us individually. He cares deeply for us and He loves us.
Not only does He love us- but he pursues us.
Now, I’ve been throwing the word pursue out a lot in this blog post. And I have a good reason too.
You see, God’s pursuit for us is crafted specifically for each and every one of His children individually. He caters to each person according to their needs and according to their heart. God’s pursuit is rooted in love, and you can specifically see that in this verse:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” –John 3:16 KJV
This is a cliche verse- people quote it all the time. But if you can look closely, you can clearly see the pursuit of God.
Because God is pursuing us, He gave His only son as a ransom for us.
That’s deep- God pursues us so greatly that He purposefully sent the Savior down for us. Our Savior died for us- for our transgressions and for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5). Now, if that isn’t pursuit- nothing else is.
And the pursuit of God did not just end with Jesus dying for our sins….that was only the beginning.
God still pursues our hearts to this very day….to this very second. He pursues our hearts so that we can know Him. So we can hear him. And so we can bask and embrace His presence.
He wants to bless us with things that are beyond our wildest dreams and He wants to bless us with His will.
All we have to do is to surrender to His pursuit of love. And I promise you that once you do, your life will never be the same.
So as I draw this blog post to an end, I pray that you allow God to pursue your heart. And I also pray that you surrender to his pursuit and allow Him to take you to higher heights and bigger blessings.
The pursuit is real. The pursuit is hot. But most importantly, God’s pursuit for us is never ending and full of His unchanging love.
With love, grace, and a surrendering heart,
