Hello everyone! Man, it has been a minute, hasn’t it? But, I’m happy to say that I’m back with something I hope you enjoy. I was inspired to write by a friend, who just began her writing journey. Also, hows quarantine life? Mine is alright, and I pray yours is as well. Now, enough talking- let us get to the blog post!
Life is filled with ups and downs. Highs and lows. But sometimes in life, it seems as though we have more downs than ups. And more lows than highs.
When those types of storms come into our lives, we try to stay encouraged. We try to do the right thing and have smiles on our faces. And we try to keep our faith strong. But to be honest with you all and myself- sometimes it’s extremely hard to stay encouraged when it seems like you’re taking blow after blow, and hit after hit in life.
And when you get that low, that burnt out, and that tired- I want you to remember that God is still there, and still very active in your life.
Like us, David knew the feeling of being low as well. He had to flee from his kingship so many times- that it probably had his head spinning. Between fleeing from Saul and fighting many enemies, David still kept the faith. And an example of his unwavering faith can be found in the verse below:
I remain confident of this. I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. –Psalm 27:13
You see in the verse above David was confident. David didn’t doubt and he didn’t waver- he remained confident.
Along with remaining confident, David said that he will see good things from God right here on Earth. And to me, that’s powerful. You see, we know that God has something special for us in heaven. But sometimes we don’t trust God for the special things here on Earth.
That mistrust comes from the storms of life and from the uncertainties of the world. But I encourage you to have faith that God wants to give you good things here on this earth. For Psalm 84:11 says that God withholds no good thing. I’ll say it again: God withholds no good thing.
Because he loves us so gracefully and freely, he wants to bless us with all the good things that he has for us, the things that have been set in stone before the foundations of the world (Ephesians 1:4).
And although God has many blessings in store for us, we have to do something on our end too. For faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26). And what God requires of us can be found in the verse below:
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord. –Psalm 27:14
Now, if you’ve been paying attention (and I hope you have) you should notice that this verse is the next verse to the one that was mentioned before. And that’s what makes it extra special.
You see, David had confident faith that God will give him good things. But David also knew that he had to wait for it. And just like David, we have to do the same.
We must wait on God’s clock for the things he has for us. And waiting on God doesn’t mean to wait un-joyfully, it simply means to rest where you are.
Now, if you’re like me- then waiting can be a hard task to accomplish. But I have learned that God’s timing is the best timing. And I would rather be under his clock, than on my own.
I say that with confidence because as God led me to Psalm 27:13-14, I wasn’t believing God for good things. I was doubting Him and not really feeling this season of my life at all. But after I read those two verses, God revealed unto me that he does have good things for me. He does have blessings that I could never imagine (Ephesians 3:20). And just as I now know that he has them for me, I truly believe that he has them for each and every one of you reading this post.
But, remember that we have to be still and wait for our King’s time. Not ours.
To conclude this blog post, I want to encourage you guys to not give up when life seems too hard to bear. Life sucks sometimes- and that is ok. But like David, we must remain confident that God will give us good things, not only in heaven…but certainly in the land of the living.
With love and an appreciation for God’s good things,
Malaysia =)
