Where’s Your Focus?

I want you guys to read this title of this post again….and really answer the question: where is your focus?

And I’m not talking about what are you focused on in the natural…but where is your focus spiritually?

God wants for us to focus on Him. Yet at times, it’s extremely hard to do so- especially when your circumstances tell you not to even utter a prayer.

And to be honest with you all I’m just now getting comfortable with my circumstances and where I’m at. Two weeks ago (17 days to be exact), I decided that it was time for a social media break. I did it because I had realized that although I smiled and laughed on a regular basis, I really did not have joy.

I wasn’t happy and I was truly longing for something that I didn’t have. Now- I’m not gonna go into detail of what was- but I just want y’all to know that that’s where my focus was. My focus was not on God at all. Instead, it was on my circumstances.

Just like me- some notable people I’ve read about in the Word were just the same. And I’m talking about the infamous duo- Adam and Eve.

Like me, Adam and Eve were so caught up in the fruit that they did not have, they ended up messing up the best thing that had happened to them- which was living a carefree life with God in Eden.

When Adam and Eve listened to the serpent’s lies they became subject to his agenda, which was to see them fall.  And they did. Adam and Eve were so caught up in having this one thing, that they neglected all the other fruits in their life that God had blessed them with. (Genesis 3)

And because they listened to the lies of the serpent, they ended up losing their closeness with God.

This part of the story is vital- I mean the world we live in is a result of the actions of Adam and Eve….but there’s something much more than that.

You see, we sometimes get so caught up in the things that we can’t have. And when that happens, we end up neglecting the things that we do have.

This is not God’s will for us. He desires that we live carefree and happy lives trusting in Him. And when we choose to dwell on our circumstances instead of trusting His word, that’s when things hit the fan.

But, Adam and Eve’s story didn’t end there. The best part of the story is at the end. Even though God punished them- he still clothed them (Genesis 3:21).

He clothed them because He loved them. And just like Adam and Even, God still clothes us. He clothes us with love, joy, and most importantly grace when we focus on him. More importantly, he clothed us with His son Jesus- who died for us and rose again on the third day.

All you gotta do is realign your focus to God, and everything will work out. I know because, in my seventeen days of no social media, I’ve been focusing on God. And when I tell you I smile more freely and laugh more carefree- I truly do.

More importantly, I have joy. And can’t nobody, thing, or circumstance take that from me. Because I decided to give my focus to God- he began to clothe me and shower me with his unconditional love. And because of that- I can see so much more clearly than before.

I also wanna share this screenshot of a prayer I wrote back in October: Focus

I share this because even though I wrote this in October, my heart was elsewhere. Meaning that because I was still focusing on other things- my prayers weren’t as focused as they should have been. But, I also share this because two months later God answered my prayer and allowed me to truly look to Him. Prayers work- and in God’s time, they will be answered. For that, I’m thankful.

As I draw this post to a close, I want you to be encouraged. Please focus on the fruit in your life that God has blessed you with- whether that simply be life, health, and strength.

I challenge you all to keep a journal of your focus for the week, and I challenge you to focus on God- trusting that things will work out for your good. I promise you that God will make a difference in your life.

That’s that on that. But, I ask you again- where’s your focus?

With love and a new focus,

Malaysia =)
