Obedience Is Key

Hello everyone!!! I know what you’re thinking- that I haven’t posted in a LOONNGG time. Well, I’m back and I have something to share with you.

Obedience. Obedience is something that I always knew of…yet really never understood until about a month ago.

You see, I was doing my morning routine: my alarm rang at 5 signaling that it was time for me and God to have our daily chat with one another. Now, I talk to God more through the day than just that one time, but 5 AM with God is crucial because it allows me to completely listen and hear his voice without the distractions of other factors.

So, I sat and began spending time my morning time with God. I read my Bible chapter of the day and the began to pray. And as I prayed I heard God say: Wait. Wait for Me to speak to you. And so I did.

But He did not speak to me during that time. Later on, during that day, God sent a series of numbers my way. Those numbers where the numbers of specific passages that He wanted me to read. And so I did.

And as  I read those passages, He showed me how the behavior of each person he led me to led to blessings. Now, let’s further examine this.

Two passages that God led me to was Genesis 15 and 16. In Genesis 15, God told Abraham to look up at the stars, and count them if he could. God then told him that his offspring would be as numerous as the stars.  Abraham obeyed and agreed with God.

Now, in Genesis 16, Abraham messed around with Hagar and she became pregnant. She ended up fleeing from Abraham and his wife and was soon in the wilderness. God then spoke to her through an angel. He told her that he would “increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count” (Genesis 16:10b NIV). Hagar obeyed God and went back to Abraham and his wife.

This intrigued me because both Abraham and Hagar believed and obeyed God. They listened to Him and were blessed. The Bible even states that when Abraham believed God, it was credited to him as righteousness. To me, that’s an amazing credit to behold.

Their natural circumstances told both Abraham and Hagar not to believe in what God had told them. Abraham and his wife Sarah were childless and longed for a child. Hagar was alone and pregnant and it seemed as though she would die. But faith is what held them together.

Faith allowed the promise God made Abraham pass after 13 years when he was given his son Issac. Faith allowed Hagar to get up from the wilderness go back to Abraham and Sarah- where her son was born and his descendants of many flourished.

Their obedience is what God rewarded with major blessings. Blessings so big I bet they could not stop praising God when they hit.

And the same way that it worked for them, the same way it works for us. Our circumstances may tell us to not believe that God will make a way, but faith tells us to hold on.

So I say to you today, hold on. God is just and faithful to those who do. Be obedient to what God is telling you to do- and He will bless you.

Now, sometimes it isn’t easy to be obedient to what God is telling you to. Trust me- I know. I remember when God told me to do something- and I ran and ran until I couldn’t anymore. So I surrendered to His will- and my life hasn’t been the same. It’s been much more rewarding and so much better.

So, I say to you- surrender to his will and be obedient. Just like Abraham and Hagar- He will bless you abundantly- more than you could ever imagine.

Obedience is key.

With love,

Malaysia.
