Being on Guard During Preparation Season

In my last blog post, Resting In Preparation Season, I talked about resting while you wait through prayer and giving thanks.

But, while you wait. You also have to be on your guard. You have to be on your guard against the enemy, Satan.

You see, preparation season is when God prunes and uses you. When he prunes you, he wants you to turn away from the things that are hindering you. But as the enemy sees you trying to do good, thats when he will attack you in your weaknesses. So, you have to always be on guard.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

And being on guard is what Peter was describing in the first part of this verse above. Being alert and of sober mind is saying that you should be alert through prayer. When you pray continuously, God will change your view sight to be alert to any attack of the enemy. And when God changes your eyesight through him, thats being of sober mind.

But the enemy will constantly try and try and try to make you falter through your weaknesses. That is why, you have to do one thing, and that is in the verse below.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Submit to God- thats it, thats all. When you feel the enemy tempting you, all you have to do is submit to God. You can submit to God through prayer, singing, or just saying “Jesus”, and he will hear you. The enemy has no choice but to flee from you. He may have power, but the power of Jesus Christ has officially defeated him.

Maybe these tips can help you be on gaurd in your preparation season. I pray that anyone who is going though this season stay on guard. And remember, God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
